Mornings of Respite

An opportunity for parents to rest and for their children with special needs and typically developing siblings to play games, engage in fun and safe activities, and interact with others under the care and supervision of trained professional and trained high school volunteers.

Dates of Sessions: 

November 4, 2017 - 9:00 am to 12:00 pm 

February 17, 2018- 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

April 28, 2018- 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

May 19, 2018- 9 am to 12:00 pm 

The program will be located in the OLGC gymnasium and School Counsel Room.


Appropriate for children between the ages of 3-12.

Snacks and Food: 

Peanut free snacks will be served.  Lunch will not be provided.


$5 per child 


  • School Psychologist 
  • Registered Nurse 
  • Certified Special Education Teacher
  • Special Olympics Coordinator 
  • A group of dedicated, trained, high school volunteers    

Registration for the Mornings of Respite: 

You must register by Friday, October 27th for the November session, Friday, February 9th for the February session, Friday, April 20th for the April session, and Friday, May 11th for the May session.  Please download the form, fill it out, print and mail to/ or drop off at OLGC, 8601 Wolftrap Rd, Vienna, VA 22182, Attn: Amy Winkler.

After you register your children, you will receive a call to follow up on medical and behavioral information by our staff.  If you plan on attending all Mornings of Respite, you only need to fill the Registration Form out once.  Please indicate on the form the sessions you wish to participate in.
