40 DAYS FOR LIFE - There will be a 40 Days for Life fall campaign from September 25-November 3 at the Falls Church Healthcare Center at 900 S. Washington Street Fall Church VA 22046. It is a peaceful, prayerful event to pray for the end of abortion and for all those affected by abortion.  We will pray for 40 days from the hours of 7am-10pm.  Can you not watch for just one hour? Please feel free to contact the leadership team at 40daysfallschurch@gmail.com

Life Chain takes place in Falls Church at Broad and Washington Streets on the first Sunday of October from 2-3:30 pm.  It is a peaceful, prayerful witness to being pro-life.

Giving Tree - Baby items are collected to be donated to the local pregnancy center. Also, monetary donations are made to help a mom who chose life to have her baby.

Pro-Life Speaker - Each year, the Women’s Club and Pro-Life Committee sponsor a pro-life speaker.  There is a talk followed by questions and answers.  Topics have included end-of-life issues, abortion, legislative decisions, and sonograms as a life-saving tool.  This is usually in January.

40 Days for Life - A peaceful, prayerful vigil is kept for 40 days across the country outside of abortion mills.  There is usually one in the Spring and one in the Fall.  OLGC tries to commit to one of the 40 days to sign up parishioners to take a one-hour slot to pray.

Additional Activities

Spiritual Adoption

We pray for nine months for a baby, whom we don’t know personally, but is in danger of being aborted.  We pray that the mother makes the right choice, and we continue to pray for her developing baby.

Project Isaiah at OLGC

The OLGC Women’s Club has spearheaded an initiative to collaborate with the National Institute of Family Life Advocates (NIFLA) to provide ultrasound equipment to a Pregnancy Help Center in Northern Virginia.

NIFLA developed The Life Choice Project, or TLC, which enables Pregnancy Help Centers become licensed medical clinics.  An element of TLC is NIFLA’s Institute in Limited Obstetrical Ultrasound, a course which equips the leadership and medical personnel to achieve excellence in the provision of ultrasound services to clients.

Through the use of the ultrasound equipment, a pregnant woman has the opportunity to see an image of her unborn child for the first time, including the beating of their child’s heart.  Among abortion-vulnerable women, the combined provision of counseling and ultrasound results in nearly 60% more stated decisions for life than with counseling alone.

OLGC will be providing funds for the Alexandria Pregnancy Help Center (Sanctity of Life Ministries) to be used to convert to a licensed medical clinic which includes funds for the training of staff, the purchase of ultrasound equipment and renovations to the clinic as needed.  To do this, we must raise $65,000.  Please consider a donation to this or our other Pro-Life activities.  For further information, please contact Patrice Roe, Director of Development, at 703-896-7424.
