Pastoral Council
Pastoral Council
The Pastoral Council shall serve as a consultative and advisory board to the Pastor in all matters pertaining to the temporal and spiritual good of the parish (i.e., church and school). The members of the Council, as representatives of the parishioners, make known in charity, the needs of the people of God and specific goals of the parish. In collaboration with the Pastor, the members of the council help create an environment that will enhance the community's experience of the presence of God and bring about the spreading of the Gospel message. The Council is guided by the Gospel, the Parish Mission Statement, and the Spirituality of St. Francis de Sales. This is achieved upon the frank exchange of views and the mutual rapport between the members and the Pastor. All items to be considered for the Pastoral Council agenda must be submitted to the Pastoral Council President.
Finance Council
Finance Council
The Finance Council is established according to Canon 537 of the Code of Canon Law with the purpose to aid the pastor in the administration of parish goods and to advise him in financial matters. The Finance Council shall recommend policies, approaches, and procedures relating to the financial management of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish; will review the annual budget, the diocesan annual report and the annual report to the parish; shall support the pastor by providing assistance to the Pastoral Council and parish committees and organizations related to financial planning, budgeting, and operations; will assist with developing and implementing a plan for the overall capital maintenance of parish facilities; and is advisory to the pastor. In accord with Canon Law, the pastor will make the final decisions with respect to all spiritual and temporal matters in the parish. All items to be considered for the Finance Council agenda must be submitted to the Finance Council Chairperson.
