Virtus Training Session at OLGC on April 20, 2024!

Spots will fill up quickly for this newly added Virtus session at OLGC!

A Virtus training session for volunteers has been added at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church!  It will be on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. in DeSales Hall.  The session will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m.  No one can enter DeSales Hall once the session has begun, so please plan on arriving prior to the session's start.  Participants must preregister for the session as outlined below.

The 4-step certification process includes the following:

  1. Complete this Our Lady of Good Counsel form so we can track the progress of your background check:  https://www.olgcva.org/outreach/serve/volunteer-children/form
  2. Complete the Office of Child Protection background check questionnaire: https://www.arlingtondiocese.org/Child-Protection
  3. Once you have completed the questionnaire in Step 2, you will be prompted to register for and attend the in-person, 4-hour VIRTUS training session (Protecting God's Children for Adults) at a Catholic parish in Northern Virginia.  Follow the directions given in a separate email.  Please do not register for a Virtus training session prior to completing Step 2 above, and do not go directly to the Virtus website to register for a class.  Doing so may lose your record of attending the session!
  4. You will be contacted by Our Lady of Good Counsel via mail to sign and return your CPS Form, which will be generated from the information you submit in step 2.  If there are any problems with the information on your CPS Form, you will be contacted via email by OLGC's Child Protection Liaison.

All adult volunteers who work with children are required to fully comply with Diocesan child protection requirements.  This includes volunteers in school, sports, scouts, and CCF & Youth Ministry.

Please contact Christine Moan, Child Protection Liaison, at cmoan@olgcva.org with any questions.

Thank you for your volunteer service to our Parish & School!
