Confirmation preparation is a two year formation in which 7th and 8th graders explore their relationship with Christ, their Catholic Faith, and what it means to be a Confirmed Catholic and disciple of Christ. The Confirmandi (those preparing for Confirmation) are asked to complete a number of formation experiences to guide them in their spirituality, in their participation in their parish community, and in their service of others.
All 7th graders seeking Confirmation must be registered in CCF or at OLGC School. If you have a 7th grader attending another Catholic School, please email Derek Rogers at youth@olgcva.org.
The Confirmation Meeting for 7th graders seeking Confirmation and their parents takes place every year in January. All 7th grade CCF and OLGC School families will receive details via email.
What books are used to prepare for Confirmation? Students prepare for this sacrament using Confirmation from RCL Benziger. As determined by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), this text has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism of the Catholic Church as of April 4, 2011.
(In Grade 7, remote catechesis for Confirmation takes place, followed by immediate or proximate catechesis for Confirmation in Grade 8.)
