2025-2026 Aviat Award Winners

We are pleased to announce that Mrs. Carleen Knauf and Mrs. Carrie Sudduth are the winners of the 2025-2026 Aviat Award!  This award is given to dedicated teachers at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School who make a difference in the lives of our students and community.  Thank you to the OLGC community members who submitted nominations this year on behalf of our amazing teachers.  Please see some of what our community shared about our award winners on their nomination forms:

Mrs. Carleen Knauf is our Middle School Resource Teacher.  Mrs. Knauf is described as a dynamic and engaging educator.

She is a highly qualified and excellent writing instructor, and we are so lucky she shares her gifts with our middle schoolers.  Mrs. Knauf encourages the kids to explore their faith through writing.  Her Writers Workshop prepares the middle schoolers for the rigor of high school writing.

Mrs. Knauf showed great dedication towards the school community by stepping into the role of the 7th grade literature teacher.  She put full effort into that role, embodying faith, hope, and perseverance.  Mrs. Knauf put the students first and stepped up to take on this role in addition to her regular teaching responsibilities.

Mrs. Knauf brings fun to everything she does, from engaging writing assignments to interesting electives.  She has held several roles as an educator, and the fact that she still coaches high school field hockey shows her dedication. Salesian Spirituality encourages us to find joy in the everyday, and Mrs. Knauf does the same for her students.

Mrs. Carrie Sudduth is our Physical Education Teacher for Grades PK-8.  Mrs. Sudduth is described as an integral and enthusiastic member of OLGC.

She greets the students before the beginning of the day leading the carpool line, and she is there to turn the lights off in the Counsel Room after the last student leaves ECAP.  She takes time out of her personal schedule to watch and cheer on her students as they play sports.  Mrs. Sudduth's dedication and investment of her time in our community truly shows love without measure.

Mrs. Sudduth's actions and words embody hope, as she always has something positive to say about a student and gives motivating words to encourage them to be the best version of themselves, using the talents God gave them.  Mrs. Sudduth's faith is demonstrated in her commitment to our OLGC community, and her perseverance is evidenced by her never-ending involvement beyond the walls of her "classroom" and in the community outside the OLGC campus.

Mrs. Sudduth is devoted to our OLGC community and her students.  She is full of hope, energy, and positive spirit, and embodies the virtues of compassion, humility, patience, and hope through her kind and encouraging words and her actions.  She has an enthusiastic and positive energy that she brings every day, everywhere she goes.
