Honoring our mother's interest in education

Our mom, Lois Steffensen, had been a parishioner at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Vienna, VA since 1969 and was active with a widowers support group.  After her graduation from St. Regis College, a Catholic women-only college at the time, she taught second grade for a year.  She became an expert at creating a new home for her family in each of the seventeen locations, in the US and abroad, to which her husband was assigned throughout his career with the US Air Force. She was proud to have lived independently in Vienna and was a dedicated volunteer at Fairfax Hospital for 25 years, logging in 4,258 hours of service.

Given our mother's abiding faith in the Catholic church and her half-century attendance at OLGC, we just knew a gift to OLGC would be a loving tribute.  Because of our mom's interest in education, we wanted the gift to go toward the tuition for an elementary-aged student.
