I am most grateful to lead OLGC at a pivotal time of growth as we launch The Cornerstone Project, a $12 million appeal for critical capital projects on our 23-acre campus. We have been blessed to receive significant support from parishioners which has allowed OLGC to kickstart this campaign and begin to address essential capital maintenance projects. We are grateful to announce we are ¾ of the way to our goal. We now need your support to raise the remaining $3 million to fully fund a new HVAC system in the school, new roof structures at the church, school, rectory, and administrative offices, and numerous campus-wide improvements to safety, security, lighting, and gathering spaces.

Since our humble beginnings in 1955, OLGC has grown exponentially to serve as the spiritual beacon for multiple generations of Catholic families in Vienna. We appreciate and value those who have called this parish “home” for decades, as well as those who have recently joined our church and school community. We would not be the thriving community we are today without the foundation established and fortified by those that came before us. As OLGC has continued to expand and evolve, parishioners have responded with gratitude to meet our growing needs. And now we must do our part to prepare our parish and school for the next generation of learners, leaders, and faithful servants.

It has been almost 23 years since the parish last undertook a major capital campaign. That initiative in 2000 gave OLGC its school gymnasium, school library, DeSales Hall, Chapel, Church narthex, preschool space, choir room, and additional meeting rooms. These spaces, alongside our main Church and school buildings, are vital to our mission and are constantly used for worship, education, and fellowship.

OLGC is now a daily home to 3,110 registered households and more than 600 school students and educators. OLGC offers extended care to school families, formation instruction for children and adults, and both daily and weekend Masses, sacramental rites, and community events to more than 9,000 parishioners. We must acknowledge the demands on the aging structures that enable our community to gather as a parish and advance as a school.

The Cornerstone Project will serve our community today, fortify our campus for tomorrow, and inspire a renewed confidence for our future together as a faith community.
